Stuff that didn't get posted till now!

In November we had so much fun with the Moores coming down to visit for Thanksgiving. I have some cute pictures of our adventures.

LETTERBOXING HIKE!

Here's the gang.

The desert was SO beautiful that day. And it was not cold and not hot but JUST right! And there was a breeze, and birds chirping and angels singing... anyone who didn't go on this hike really missed out. Just look at this view! I wish I could make this picture bigger.

We hiked...

...and we hiked...

...and we posed for pictures...

... and we hiked...

...and we hiked some MORE...

...and more hiking...
...then some needed rest...
... especially this some one...

...FINALLY we made it to the letterbox spot. The guide told us it was about a mile hike, it was more like 2 1/2. But Dixie did awesome with JJ on her back! And the kids did good, but they were SO done, when it was over. Anyway, the letter box was up on this big hill. This is Kevin, Donald and the kids digging for it.

Here is the stamp and what the stamp is of. The landmark is the trail marker for 2 different trails. The last person to write in the letterbox was in 2006! So that was pretty cool.

Here is our next adventure with the Moores
We had a family football game the day before Thanksgiving. Oh man it was fun! Thanks to the Downings for comin out so we could BATTLE! We didn't even keep score except for I was on the winning team every time. After the game we had killer Pizza and Bonfire at Mom and Dads. It was one of the best days ever.
Oh yeah did I mention we did the Hike the same day, and the next day we all ran a 10K.

After the Football games Jaba got all the kids together (except Halia apparently) and started planning sneak attack dog piles on everyone. I captured the silliness.

Robs Dog-pile

Ali's Dog-pile
Donald's Dog-pile (the sneak up)

Another adventure with the Moores
We had FHE at our house. I planned a lesson about thanksgiving and we talked about giving thanks by doing service, and as we do that the light of Christ in us shines brighter. I gave everyone a candle and as everyone said something they were thankful for they lit the candle. The room went from dim to very bright as our light spread. Then we said the prayer and remembered to be thankful. After the lesson we ate. And then for fun dessert and activity we made Oreo Turkeys. The kids loved them and they were super easy.

All you need is 2 double stuffed Oreos. 1 Hershey Kiss. Some sprinkles for the eyes. And Frosting to stick the sprinkles on.

I'm sure there's better ways out there to make them but this was the easiest for kids to do it them selves.

Our next adventure in November NOT with the Moores.
(although, they did get us our down pillows... THANKS)
Black Friday What UP

This is Donald trying to keep his eyes open on the drive home. And yes he does get up every morning for work at 2:30am, so the fact that we got up for Black Friday shopping at 3 shouldn't have phased him! But we DID have a busy couple days the days prior to this and he had only had like 3 hours of sleep those nights and worked and hiked and played and worked and came straight from work to the 10k to run it in 51minutes... he is not human, he is a terminator (the polymorphous kind). But even terminators need to sleep. And they don't like shopping that much.
But look at our LOOT! OH yes! We totally ripped off the stores with what we got. We only got doorbusters. And YES I'm "raising the roof" that's what you DO in a snuggie! Have you not seen the advertisements? You can actually "raise the roof" anywhere!
Look look at this... I'm studying and I am all warmy warm.
Merry Christmas to me!

Donald must really love you if he'll go shopping on Black Friday! I love hearing all the fun things you've been doing. I especially hope Honey gets better soon!

I had never been hiking out in that part of the Superstitions before. It was so beautiful! That was a fun week. Can't wait to do it again. Love your post Shannon. I, too, hope Honey gets better. What a scar she has to show off now.

PS. The dogpiles are the best, they remind me of when your dad was young and all the cousins would dogpile him everytime. Good memories.
